Interchange Australia: Individualised Support and Professional Staff – By Interchange Australia consultant, Penny Anderson
Interchange Australia provides participants with supports which are individualised and flexible, with our staff who are skilled, professional and personable. The staff who provide your supports have broad-ranging professional training, enabling them to provide assistance with complex and simple care.
Interchange Australia staff supports participants to undertake a wide variety of activities, learn new skills, develop their social abilities and take part in physical activities. For people who need support with activities of daily living, Interchange Australia staff have the skills to provide personal care and assistance with showering, dressing, medication and complex care. Your personal care needs may be provided in your own home, during short term accommodation in one of our houses, or during accompanied outings. When providing assistance with personal care, Interchange Australia staff will take the time to understand your support needs, tailor your care to your individual needs and requirements and ensure your complex care needs are fully addressed.
An example of this occurred recently, when a participant required support to use specific PEG feeding equipment which differed from the usual style. Within 10 days, our HR department had arranged specific training for the staff who would be working with this participant, and the service was in place. We received positive feedback from the participant, both with respect to staff quality and the efficiency of the training provided.
Interchange Australia continues to seek innovative and flexible ways to work with people and their families. Please do not hesitate to contact one of our Consultants to discuss your needs, and/or the needs of the person for whom you care. Ph: 1300 112 334.
