A Rewarding Career in Support Work: Meet Tracey – By Interchange Australia Human Resources Manager, Lynne Busby
In the first week of Tracey’s employment we received feedback from several clients that she was very efficient and professional. We often receive positive feedback from clients about our staff, but this feedback was received so quickly! I sent Tracey an email to let her know how well she was going according to the client’s feedback. She was pleasantly surprised on receiving this feedback so soon.
I considered Tracey to be a strong and determined person who knew what she wanted so it came as a surprise when discussing her employment that she felt Interchange Australia had provided her with the opportunities and support to become stronger and regain self-esteem and confidence. Her story is inspiring and she has given approval to share it with you:
Tracey was employed as a Kitchen Hand in a nursing home and thoroughly enjoyed the interaction with the residents. This encouraged her to apply for a position with Interchange Australia as she wanted to step out of the kitchen and into direct care. She was able to draw on her previous experience in a caring role for a private client to bolster her application and she commenced with Interchange Australia in April 2017.
Tracey has pursued her goal of working in the care sector by studying the Certificate IV Aged Care and securing her role with Interchange Australia. She quickly progressed from initially providing domestic assistance and is now providing personal care services to our clients. Tracey also supported and performed alongside members of Interchange Australia’s drama group, The Stage Fright Players, in their original performance of Bonanza in December last year. We still receive positive feedback from clients and we are very happy to have Tracey working with Interchange Australia. Her positive attitude and professional work ethic are much valued qualities.
