Loneliness During the Holiday Season – By Interchange Australia Consultant, Wendy Hughes
This time of year is very busy for most of us with a string of festive engagements with family and friends, however, there are some in our community who have little social connection and are quite alone. While families often connect with each other, at times it is not possible so people may be ‘out of the loop’ over the festive season. The actual days of celebration in most circumstances, seem well catered for. Not so with those that follow in January, when many are on holidays, and those staying at home, are quite lonely.
Sometimes a smiling face to share a chat and a cuppa, an extra pair of hands to clean the house, maybe a bit of gardening or a lawn mow may lift that sense of loneliness and isolation, and give you the feeling of making a difference. Interchange Australia has some wonderful fee for service options that are easily purchased for someone you care about. Make the move and purchase a gift that will make a difference for both the person receiving and the person giving.
