All of the Music programs we provide have one uniting factor – music improves the quality of life.
We all have experiences of being engaged in music – even if it is only by tapping our foot to a song on the radio, or singing in the shower. Most of us don’t need any help to access the opportunities music offers for socialising, communication, expression or just plain joy. But often people who have a real need for these experiences need help in accessing musical opportunities.
Music can help a child with autism to communicate, unlock forgotten memories for someone living with dementia or provide comfort for someone facing a terminal illness. It can uncover new levels of confidence for those living with mental health issues, stimulate brain function for victims of stroke and highlight what a person can do in spite of their disability.
Interchange Australia is unique in the Disability & Aged Care sector as it incorporates musical activities into a wide range of programs including:
- Day programs
- Guitar lessons
- Singing lessons
- Annual ROCKCAN concert
- ASDESI Holiday Kids Klub,
- Social & community activities including dinner groups
Interchange Australia is continually developing new & exciting ways for its clients to engage in musical activities & will continue to lead the way in the disability & age care sector.
We have had the privilege to witness fantastic progress from the participants in all of these programs. In only a few short months we have seen an increase in client’s attention span, communication, group interaction and a new found willingness to try new ideas. We have also been heard directly from carers/parents that there is a noticeable positive change in a participant’s self-confidence and how much they look forward to their lessons each week.
All of the Music programs we provide have one uniting factor – music improves the quality of life.
