RockCan is an Interchange Australia initiative. Since its beginning in 2009, RockCan has drawn bands from all over the Southern Highlands for the enjoyment of the local community and has consistently been a platform for young people (with and without disability) to showcase their musical talents.
Many of the Interchange Australia participants share a passion for music and the music program offers people the opportunity to get involved in all facets of being part of a band – from learning to sing, writing lyrics, and playing instruments. RockCan extends this opportunity further and allows participants to get involved in planning, organising and performing at live events. Participants rehearse weekly year round under the guidance of skilled and experienced Interchange Australia staff and RockCan is their opportunity to showcase the skills they have developed throughout the year.
This year RockCan will see the following Interchange bands and solo artists take the stage:
The Hidden Wonders
Interchange Australia’s original rock band who has headlined RockCan since its inception. The growing profile of The Hidden wonders is testament to the positive outcomes that the music program and RockCan delivers.
Thomas & The Terminators
Formed in 2020 from some of the original Hidden Wonders members have taken a different direction in their music and were actively involved in the production of the RockCan on screen show in 2021. Will be making their live RockCan debut this year.
Michelle Wernick
A vocal powerhouse and talented performer who has had many live performances to add to her list and was heavily involved in the production of the RockCan show in 2021.
Olivia Veneran
A talented young vocalist currently learning the ropes of live performances and very excited to be performing this year at RockCan.
In addition to Interchange Australia’s performers, we also have a number of other local performers taking the stage to bring to the Southern Highlands a stellar event you won’t want to miss!
