What is the Music Program?
At Interchange Australia our music program features classes that range from music therapy, to teaching you the basics of learning about rhythm and beat through to more advanced lessons at a one-to-one level on your instrument of choice or vocal lessons. Our group sessions include all of this as well as song writing and being part of a band with workshop opportunities throughout the year.
Part of learning about music also involves learning the correct care of instruments and equipment, as well as setting up sound and audio equipment for each class. We offer classes catering to all skill levels led by fully qualified and accomplished music industry professionals as well as experienced support staff.
Where and when does it run?
The Interchange Australia music program is run across three locations; Bowral, Narellan and Goulburn both during Day Programs hours (Monday to Friday 9:00am to 3:00pm) hours as well as of an evening (Mondays and Tuesdays between 4:30pm and 7:00pm) with opportunities to join various bands. Private lessons are available at a time and location convenient for you.
Each of our bands have their own unique flavour, so you’ll be sure to find a group that suits your preferred music genre. We work with everyone to reach their potential and refine their talent, whether its vocals, keyboard, guitar, bass, drums or percussion. You don’t need to have a music background or knowledge, just come along and be enthusiastic about learning!
Our bands take part in a number of events and have performance opportunities arise frequently throughout the year. We have our annual concert RockCan, as well as other local events such as the Camden show, festivals, awareness day events, Christmas parties, music showcases and other community events.
A little about our Interchange Bands
The Hidden Wonders
The Hidden Wonders have headlined Interchange Australia’s annual concert ‘RockCan’ since its inception. The band’s performance improves each year as new members join in, and this is attributable to the different talents these performers brings with them and also to the new skills that each participant learns through the music program. The Hidden Wonders are always a crowd favourite and have performed at many gigs over the years throughout the Southern Highlands and South West Sydney.
Infinite Potential
Infinite Potential are from our Narellan campus. While they are a newly formed group, each member brings with them a serious passion for music and unwavering commitment to growth and learning. This band will be huge in the future, performing alternative cover songs and possibly working on some original music in the future. RockCan 2023 was the first time that Infinite Potential take the stage in front of a live audience, and are certain to get the crowd on the dance floor. You will also be able to see Infinite Potential performing live at Camden Show early in 2024. There is so much coming for this band!
Thomas & The Terminators
Former members of the Hidden Wonders, Thomas & The Terminators wanted to take a different direction to Hard Rock, so in 2020 their band was formed. They were heavily involved in the 2021 ‘RockCan On Screen’ show and made their live debut performance at RockCan 2022, which had the entire room rocking out with them.
Higher Than High
Higher than High was formed late in 2022 and had their first live performance at Camden Show early 2023. This band brings plenty of diversity, excitement and musical excellence to their performances. Playing a mix of alternative cover songs and original tracks produced by the band members, this is one band to keep an eye out for in the future.
