“We ended up recording 14 songs, a massive effort for all involved!”
The RockCan Show Premiere & Awards night held Friday 23rd April saw everyone in attendance dressed to the nines for a red carpet event celebrating the release of the RockCan show on screen and the Annual Interchange Australia Music Awards.
A stellar live opening performance by Thomas, Michelle and Heidi “Lean on me” brought the house down before everyone settled in to watch the feature film “The RockCan Show”.
The RockCan Show was produced during the height of COVID-19 last year. Interchange Australia’s band members were looking for a new challenge to work towards while all their regular performances had either been cancelled or postponed. We instead turned our attention to making music videos and live recordings of all of Interchange’s bands in an MTV style show hosted by our very own Harrison and Michelle, who expertly navigated the show and interviewed some of its stars.
Prior to this project our bands had experienced a lot of live performances, but doing live recordings was a new kind of pressure that our band had never experienced before. It was something that definitely tested our patience at times, with extensive tech set up each week, and then each song requiring a number of takes to get right before we recorded the perfect one, it was more important than ever to stay positive and encourage each other. Learning to perform to a camera instead of a live audience was a learning curve that everyone took in their stride and really rose to the challenge. We ended up recording 14 songs, a massive effort for all involved and one that the participants should be very proud of.

Congratulations to everyone on some fantastic achievements this past year, although it has been a difficult time for us all you are all stars. The show was wrapped up with a crowd favourite “Mustang Sally” performed live and it was wonderful to see everyone in the audience get up and dance as we brought this fantastic show to an end!
