The primary years are a critical phase in a child’s development |Know your strengths and abilities.
The ASDESI program is funded by the 4K and implemented by Interchange Australia and provides services and supports within the Wingecarribee Region which focus on social and emotional wellbeing, helping children, aged 6 to 16 years, with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other Neurodevelopmental Disorders as well as their families gain an understanding of their world so they can function comfortably within it.
We work in partnership with individuals, families and communities in order to provide information, support and education to give you and your child the specific skills, resources and networks you need helping you navigate your way through the difficulties experienced as they children grow.
The ASDESI Kids Klub program provides group supports that focus on the individual needs and encourage skills and competencies, so that children who attend this program can explore and interact with their world with confidence and assurance.
Children are engaged in a range of activities which encourage the development of social skills, building and maintaining relationships with their peers, participating within the community on various outings enabling them to share new experiences in a safe, fun and friendly environment.
We work with children and families to:
- Increase social skills and relationships
- Deepen the understanding and sense of self
- Increase the sense of connection with others and the world at large
- Extend social, literacy and numeracy skills
- Maintain a healthy relationship with our loved ones
Our services encourage children and their families to value their own abilities, strengths and capacities, helping them to develop the necessary emotional resilience needed to manage disappointments and frustrations. It is important to focus on children’s strengths rather than on negative behaviours, support emotional development by offering encouragement and praise.
