Janice and Ken are extremely happy, comfortable and independent in their own home, with services in place to make living their daily lives just that little bit easier.

Janice was born in the UK and met her husband Ken in their late teens, it was love at first dance! Together they loved travelling; Bermuda, Spain, Portugal and finally decided to call Australia home in 2003. Together they have one daughter, who lives locally and is a wonderful support for them. Janice started her aged care journey in 2017, not long after moving into their retirement villa in Bowral as Ken fractured his femur and was unable to drive until he recovered. Janice contacted My Aged Care originally seeking some transport, where it was also identified, she also needed some assistance with the heavier household chores that she couldn’t do on her own.
Janice was referred for a Home Support Assessment, an assessor visited Janice in her own home for a face-to-face assessment and then approved her for both Transport and Domestic Assistance. A referral for domestic assistance was sent to multiple providers in the Southern Highlands and accepted by one; Interchange Australia.
Janice proceeded to have a fall herself in 2019 where she broke her wrist; a referral was then sent to My Aged Care from the hospital requesting additional support for transitional care. Janice was referred to Interchange Australia again for her transitional care which allowed Ken a break from his caring role. This is when Janice began receiving her Personal Care services with Interchange.
Fast forward to today, Janice and Ken are extremely happy, comfortable and independent in their own home with the above services all still in place to make living their daily lives just that little bit easier. Together, Janice and her support staff have built a strong relationship, they are like family to her, and she looks forward to seeing their familiar faces every week. Janice has faced many challenges with her mobility and health over the last couple of years and Ken has experienced how both hard and rewarding being a carer is; however, together they have built a slice of paradise and have a love for each other that most would only dream of.
