Join Kirsty on her Adventure at Interchange Australia: Alpaca my bags!
Since joining Interchange Australia, Kirsty has continued to make the most of life and it’s not just her purple tops that sparkle, she does as well!
Kirsty has had a strong interest in cooking from an early age when she used to help her mother Debbie cook in the kitchen at her home and work. Kirsty has enjoyed building her skills in the kitchen throughout our Day Options program Cheftastics where she has been enjoying learning about all aspects of cookery from menu planning, budgeting, shopping, and food preparation and cooking as well as serving and enjoying a delicious meal with her friends. Kirsty has also embraced the Garden Gurus program at Interchange Australia where she has been learning how to cultivate and harvest and array of fresh fruits and vegetables for use in the kitchen. She has also extended this to her home life where she has recently grown her own strawberries and onions.
Kirsty currently works two days a week for a local company that provides indigenous catering at an extensive range of locations including Sydney, the South coast and Canberra and one day hopes to make her very own creations in the kitchen. Kirsty actively partakes in the Friday night dinner groups held at Springett House and takes this opportunity to assist in the kitchen with preparing healthy food for everyone to enjoy.
Kirsty also enjoys an array of other activities including music, creative arts and various sports to keep fit. A healthy diet, an active mind and an active lifestyle is the key to Kirsty’s glow!
One of Kirsty’s highlights from the wide range of activities offered at Interchange Australia this year, was when she went indoor skydiving at IFly in Penrith. Kirsty said with excitement that “the experience was amazing” she also had a giggle when she seen the photos as she remarked that she “looked like a fish” due to the wind force in her face!
Another of Kirsty’s highlights was where she was able to get up close and personal with an Alpaca, she said “he was so soft, gentle and friendly”. Kirsty is an avid animal lover and enjoys going to zoos, sanctuaries and farms where she gets to see and learn all about animals.
Kirsty is an absolute delight to all who meet her, she has worked hard at building her independent living skills and has made many friends during her trips using public transport to and from Interchange Australia’s Day Options program as she enjoys talking with other passengers including the bus driver who always has a joke or two to share.
Interchange Australia congratulates Kirsty on her achievements and wishes her well as she continues to live a rewarding and fulfilling life. Every day at Interchange Australia is a wonderful adventure for Kirsty who embraces all with enthusiasm bringing a glow to everyone’s day.
