Making a difference and changing peoples lives on a daily basis.
By Interchange Australia Marketing Coordinator Tahlia Bunt
Hello my name is Jane and I am a new account manager here at Interchange Australia. I am originally from Newcastle, living in Germany, Sydney and then settling here in the Southern Highlands 12 years ago with my clockmaker husband and two children. I have been with Interchange for just under 4 weeks now and it has been such a great experience for me so far. I come from a background of no experience in the disability sector and it is really incredible being opened up to a ‘new world’. I love learning about the disability sector and feel so lucky to be apart of something making a difference, and helping people with disabilities have access to what we take for granted in day to day life.
Before working at Interchange I had an array of positions all over the place. I lived in Munich, Germany for 3 years where I worked as a tour wholesaler, but I got sick of worrying about what serviettes were in hotels. Back in Australia I worked in inbound tourism for 6 years, my role was managing student exchange and volunteers working in Australia, and then I worked for my husband’s clock making company doing all his admin and marketing. I applied to work at Interchange because I wanted to make a difference. It sounds so cliché but it is so beyond true for me personally. At my last job we had employed a man with a disability and it brought me so much joy seeing that man being treated like any other person and being in a ‘normal’ role. I also am friends with a staff member at Interchange and I loved seeing her making a difference and being apart of a local business making such an impact.
My role here at Interchange as an Account Manager is making sure that clients are having their needs met and their lives are enritched through what we offer them here at Interchange, and it is so rewarding doing so. Interchange as a workplace is such a great place to be, I am learning g so much and meeting great people. Everyone here is friendly and the atmosphere functions extremely well. I think my exact word were ‘A well oiled machine’. A well oiled machine making a difference and changing peoples lives on a daily basis.
