Paul is a wonderful inspiration to those around him and Interchange Australia would like to commend him for all of his achievements, past, present and future.
By Interchange Australia Marketing Coordinator Kelly Taylor.
Meet Paul, a gentleman on all occasions, kind, friendly and quite the character.
Paul comes from a large family with six other siblings, many nieces and nephews and he just loves spending time with them. With some living overseas and others living interstate, he hopes to one day be able to move to QLD where he can be closer to two of his brothers that he would love to see more often! For now he speaks with them regularly on the phone and looks forward to special occasions where he gets to see them in person.
Paul has faced many challenges throughout life, but he actively seeks ways of overcoming every challenge thrown at him. He likes to keep his mind incredibly active and says that setting new goals and striving to achieve more each time help him live a fuller life.
Cerebral Palsy often affects speech due to poor control pf tongue and/or mouth muscles. Programs like the Stage Fright Players and Show Stoppers have proven to be invaluable programs for many people with Cerebral Palsy showing significant improvements in speech and verbal communication skills.
Paul has been an active and valued member of The Stage Fright Players since 2014 and plays a large part in script writing, directing and often takes on leading roles in their performances each year. He has also taken this skill learned with the Stage Fright Players and now also directs plays prepared in our Day Options program Show Stoppers.
Here is what Mandy (director of the Stage Fright Players) has to say about Paul:
“I have had the pleasure of knowing and working with Paul for seven years. I first met Paul back in 2015 when I became the director of Stage Fright Players. Paul has many wonderful qualities – a gentle and kind nature, authentically loyal to his friends, staunchly dedicated to his commitments, a wicked sense of humour and devoted to Interchange Leisure Link activities including Stage Fright Players and The Hidden Wonders.
His smile lights up any room and his genuine, caring nature endears him to everyone he meets. Paul’s ‘can do’ attitude has seen him grow as a performer, undertaking many different roles over the years, from the famous director Victor Flemming in Singing in New York, Colonel Mustard in Haven’t Got a Cluedo and Elton Joel in A Cracking Christmas Cruise to name a few.
Watch this space…there is so much more to come!”
Paul was also diagnosed with diabetes a few years ago and has since commenced in the Cheftastics and Garden Gurus programs, where he is actively learning more about healthy eating and using fresh grown produce in his weekly menu planning.
Paul is a wonderful inspiration to those around him and Interchange Australia would like to commend him for all of his achievements, past, present and future.
